02/27/2012 - Doc’s Group Therapy at Chili with a Kick 2012 a Youth Home Benefit
We may not have won the contest, but there were several folks that said that the Jacked up chili was by far the best and that is all I needed to hear. We ate some AWESOME chili from several other booths including our friend’s chili from the other tables like Jett, Tony, and crew with ZTrackers - www.ZTrackers.us and Josh with Pizza D’s. I’m glad I wasn’t a judge, because that would have been a very difficult job. Jason the Psycho Trucker and his lady Amy, Luke’s lady Jill, along with Chucky D and Joe Pepsi arriving on the scene later, were there to support us. Kari Husky arrived from Revel Magazine - www.RevelatConway.com and she tried and loved the Jacked up Chili. What’s not to love?!? Several other friends and fans showed up and we deeply appreciate it and I SORRY for running out chili. It went FAST! We even had visitors from our friends from Channel 7 - www.KATV.com and The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette - www.ArkaksasOnline.com.
Well, we got so wrapped up in having fun cooking up the chili and meeting new people and catching up with old friends that we lost track of time. We then realized it would be better if we changed up the Podcast of Doc’s Group Therapy to be more of a Recap of the Chili with a Kick event this time rather than an interview type like previous. I LOVE WHAT WE DO! We will complete the Podcast on 02/28/2012 at a different location. The Podcast will still include music from The Year of the Tiger - www.TYOTT.com and CloverBlue - www.CloverBlue.com along with Un-Doc-Umented News and Ask Doc. Doc’s Group Therapy will now be brought to you by the Loony Bin Comedy Clubs www.LoonyBinComedy.com, MCDLink - www.LetsGoPromo.com, and State of Comedy - www.StateOfComedy.com. Thank you to our Chili Sponsor Bill Asti with Asti Architect - www.AstiArchitect.com. As always the event included mini-events on top of the AWESOME kickball tournament. There was a flip cup competition, a jalapeño eating contest, and some other side games. There was even stuff for the kiddos other than just eating, including a bouncy house, bean bag tosses, and other crazy stuff to do. If that wasn’t enough, there were vendor booths, a beer garden and more.
Chili with a Kick is a Big Red Ball Charitable Foundation - www.LRKickBall.com event benefiting Youth Home -http://www.YouthHome.org - of Arkansas. You can find out about all of the bands, the kick ball tournament, the types of vendors and more by going to the Chili with a Kick website - www.ChiliWithaCkick.com. These people do amazing things for kids and throw some kick AWESOME events. Thanks Erin Jester for making it easy for us to be part of such great and fun events.
Note to self: Never eat too much chili knowing that you have a very elegant and close quarter’s event wearing a tuxedo planned for the next night.
Thanks for reading or skimming,
I’ll see you all at the next event my friends and thank you all for the INCREDIBLE support!
Thanks,

02/01/2012 - Sync Weekly Magazine's - Stuff You Love Series (Doc's)
The kick awesome Sync Weekly Magazine (http://www.SyncWeekly.com) added me to the Stuff You Love series back in January 2012... This is what I sent them. I was bit wordy so they had to summarize a bit, but here is the full list... :-) I'm posting this in case ya didn't get a chance to read it.
Michael Doc Davis or Doc is an Arkansas entertainer, comedian, actor, and promoter that has lived in Arkansas for most of his life. Doc has performed comedy all over Arkansas and surrounding states and can be found at the Loony Bin supporting local comedy. Doc has been in Independent films including the lead role in the feature film ‘Tuckerman’, a main character in the feature film ‘Anyone’, and several short films as well. He’s been heard on The Point 94.1 and He prides himself on using his talents to help many local charities and other arts.
Things I love
- Orange Sherbet: This has got to be the best Ice Cream ever and especially if you have it in a fresh waffle cone. It’s a little something that takes me back to my childhood and great memories. I do tend to eat it quick and the brain freeze ROCKS!
- Wine: Somehow I got into wines and I have tried many different ones from all over the world. I am a bit jealous of the wines since some of them have been to places I have only planned to visit, but I won’t whine too much about that.
- Laughter: Laughter is an incredible sound that causes a bigger high than any drug… from what I’ve been told. Laughter is the best medicine and great therapy for the soul of the one laughing and the one causing the laughter. This is true unless it during some sort of intimate moment but I’m over that. I’m even cranking up a new show called Doc’s Group Therapy (http://DocsGroupTherapy.com)
- Helping Charities: Although some may say I’m a charity case, I do LOVE helping Arkansas charities. Sometimes it’s a bit hard to mix comedy and serious stuff like charities; it does seem to work well. The charities I enjoy the most are those that help children and we have a lot that need our help.
- Road Trips to Nowhere: In order to feed my free spirit, I tend to love to drive with no specific location or predetermined route planned out. It’s a great way to clear the mind, get a pile of new observational comedy, and meet lots of new people. However, I always seem to end up by the ocean, in a hammock, and with a nice drink. Nothing like the ocean, but the water makes it difficult to sit still, especially if too many drinks were involved -- insert special dance --.
- Scuba Diving & Snorkeling: I do love Scuba but I think I should likely lose a little weight before dive time in 2012. It’s not a good thing if you look like messed up Play-Doh in a sack. I’m not saying that’s what I look like, but you won’t find many photos of me in a wet suit. I’m just say’n
- Photography: I love the fact that with photography it captures a moment in time for remembering great times, funny times, and wondering how a photo could be used to embarrass someone. I’m not saying I would do that, but I do take a LOT of photos -- insert evil laugh --. Believe it or not, several of my photos have actually earned money and no it wasn’t blackmail.
I hope you enjoyed it....

01/21/2012 - Comedy and Blues - CloverBlue IBC Show at Parrot Beach | N. Little Rock, Arkansas
It was AWESOME to see friends there and meeting new friends as well. There were bands supporting bands and many more. It was interesting to see the folks faces that weren’t expecting comedy that night and even better when they joined the fire circle outside as they laughed and repeated some of the jokes that I told them earlier. I always enjoy supporting local bands, other arts, and charities here in our great state of Arkansas.
If you haven’t heard CloverBlue, then you really really really need to. Some of their music will be part of Doc’s Group Therapy (www.DocsGroupTherapy.com) in February. They are also the band that will be putting together the Doc’s Group Therapy intro / song track. Too AWESOME!
Parrot Beach Café has some serious history including comedy shows, open jams, bands, karaoke, food, drinks, and much more. You should visit them when you can and tell them that Doc sent you. Parrot Beach Café - 9611 Mac Arthur Dr • North Little Rock, Arkansas • 72118.
Great times to say the least…
You can look for this and other stuff in my column called Doc’s Spot in Revel Magazine in one of the next editions. I’ll add the information to the blog after Revel hit’s the shelves and on the net.
See you at the next event in February.

01/18/2012 - Doc’s Group Therapy Debut at The Loony Bin Comedy Club
